Ask a Librarian

Lynn librarians are dedicated to ensuring that off-campus students get the same level of service as our on-campus students. Don’t struggle with your assignments – we can help. Librarians are always available to assist with starting a research paper, finding and evaluating sources, and managing citations. Contact us anytime via chat, email, text, or phone to discuss your needs. Any librarian can help you, but Alison Leonard is our Online Learning Librarian and is usually the best contact.

What about when the library is closed?

We have many resources to help even when the library is closed:

Or email us your question and we'll get back to you as soon as we open

Digital Resources

  • All of our digital resources – 180,000+ ebooks and millions of online articles, streaming films and database entries – are available via our web site at www.lynn.edu/library.
  • When doing research using the resources available on the library’s webpage from off campus you will be prompted for your Lynn username (all lower case; e.g. jsmith) and password
  • Search one of our subject-specific guides to find the most useful resources for your class.
  • If you are having trouble connecting to a library resource, make sure you add the search string https://lynn-lang.student.lynn.edu/login?url= Is in front of any URL
  • If you have any trouble accessing online resources, please contact us.

Borrowing & Renewing

  • We will mail books and DVDs to students who are fully online/distance students (those who are not attending any on-campus classes). Students are responsible for return shipping.
  • Books: unlimited checkouts. Undergrads have a loan period of one month; graduate students have a loan period of one semester.
  • DVDs/CDs: 15 DVDs maximum, 3 CDs maximum, with a loan period of 7 days.
  • Music scores: unlimited checkouts with a loan period of one month.
  • Items may be renewed online through the My Library Account link. Use your Lynn username (all lower case; e.g.: jsmith) and password.
  • We do not charge late fees for overdue materials; however, we request that you return materials promptly once they are no longer needed. We do charge for lost items and those never returned – the replacement cost plus a processing fee of $40.

Getting Stuff from Other Libraries

  • We will borrow materials for you from another library if Lynn does not own the item. Contact Jared Wellman, Digital Resources Librarian, to make your request. Alternatively, when searching in our LynnQuest catalog, use the button that says “Request Item From Another Library” to make a request:  Request Button There’s no cost for this service. Delivery takes about 4-10 days. More Info
  • If you are in south Florida, you can go to other academic libraries in our region and borrow materials in person. Just come to the desk and we’ll give you the card you need to borrow.
