Definition of "Peace, Justice, & Strong Institutions"

"The sixteenth goal pursues the advancement of peaceful and inclusive societies, allowing access to justice for all, and constructing effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions throughout society. SDG16 seeks to address the challenges that:

  • cause people to live in fear,
  • become forcibly displaced, and
  • experience violence.

These challenges include:

  • organized crime,
  • corruption,
  • human trafficking,
  • illegal arms sales,
  • financial crimes, and the
  • all forms of violence against, torture of, and exploitation of children."
