A Salute to our Fantastic Graduating Student Workers

The Lynn Library is lucky to have so many great student workers. During the semester, we’re open seven days a week including five nights until midnight. It would be impossible for us to keep such extensive hours and offer the great services we do, if not for our amazing group of student workers.

This year, the library is in a unique position. We’re losing nearly half of our student workers to graduation. Many of them have worked at the library for years, and we’re proud of these excellent people. Among them are musicians, athletes, sports and science enthusiasts, humanitarians, and budding business, marketing, and investment professionals. Their futures are bright and we look forward to seeing their positive influence on the world.

We would like to take this time to thank them for their service to the library and the university at large. Here they are in alphabetical order (by last name, because we’re librarians and that’s how we roll):

Name: Mathew Avila

Year:  Senior, three-year degree program

Major/Minor: Political Science, International Business

Goals: To one day be able to run my own non-profit organization that aids refugees and immigrants seeking a better future here in the U.S. I hope to create with this organization a pathway to integration for immigrants and refugees into U.S. society.

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: The staff! Every single person has their own unique style and charisma. There's never a dull moment.

Best Lynn memory: In my sophomore year, Tibetan Buddhist monks came to the Lynn Library and created a mandala. It was honestly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Thing you’ll miss most about Lynn U: The amazing atmosphere. I have never worked at a place surrounded by such interesting people!

Name: E’Naiyah Frazier

Year: Senior, three-year degree program 

Major: Fashion

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: How resourceful it is and how everyone is willing to help Lynn students. 

Best Lynn memory: Attending New York Fashion Week. 

Thing you'll miss the most about Lynn U: All my friends and my academic advisor Dr. Lisa Dandeo.

Name: Cameron Hewes

Year: Graduate student

Major: Clarinet Music Performance

Goals: Start a sheet music distribution company. Also, eat everything in sight.

Favorite thing about Lynn library: The awesome attitude of the staff!

Best Lynn memory: That one time they had fish tacos at the cafeteria.

Thing you'll miss most about Lynn U: Those coy Muscovy ducks.

Favorite quote: “What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?”


Name: Michael Margolis

Year: Senior, three-year degree program

Major/Minor: Sports Management, Digital Art & Design + Political Science

Goals: To eventually work in professional sports with a team that wins the championship so I can say I have a championship ring.

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: Just all the interesting questions.

Best Lynn memory: Being part of Club Lib!

Thing you’ll miss most about Lynn U: All the friendships I’ve made.

Name: Cristian Morales 

Year: Senior, three-year degree program

Major/Minor: International Business, Entrepreneurship

Goal: To open my own business in the future.

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: I can always study here and find friends to chat in between study breaks. (I have many study breaks.)

Best Lynn memory: Meeting all of my friends for the first time and not knowing how close we would become.

Thing you’ll miss most about Lynn U: The caf 24/7 and the people.

Name: Yilda Stahl

Year: Senior, three-year degree program

Major/Minor: International Business, Psychology

Goals: To create my own makeup line.

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: The librarians and the scanner.

Best Lynn memory: Founders Day 2014.

Things you'll miss most about Lynn U: Founders Day, my friends, and amazing business teachers.

Year: Senior

Major: Biology

Goals: Work for Disney

Teressa “Tess” Thompson

Year: Senior, three-year degree program

Major/Minor: Psychology, International Business Management

Goals: To have a job before I graduate college and love what I do.

Best Lynn memory: Speaking at the groundbreaking for the Mary and Harold Perper Residence Hall.

Things you'll miss about Lynn: Being so close to everyone and learning about new cultures from all over the world.

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: I love the people I work with in the library and learning their stories.

Name: Leanne Wright

Year (and position): Senior and starting outfielder for Lynn Softball

Major/Minor: Biology, Psychology

Goals: I want to become a pediatrician.

Best Lynn memory: Winning our first series on our home field at Lynn.

Thing you’ll miss most about Lynn U: My teammates and coworkers.

Favorite thing about Lynn Library: All of the friendly librarians and Hunter
